Contribute
Local Style Journal welcomes considered pitches about the visual details of streets, shopfronts, signs and shared places. Send proposals through the Contact page; a pitch is not a promise of publication.
What we welcome
We are interested in clear, original pieces that help readers notice a specific design choice or understand how a place is experienced. A strong contribution has a focused subject, a useful question and a grounded explanation rather than a broad claim about what a whole community thinks.
Make the pitch concrete
Name the subject, say what the piece would help readers see, and outline the main points you would cover. Tell us what sources or visual material you would use, and flag any uncertainty, permissions or conflicts of interest. Do not send confidential information or work that you do not have the right to share.
Editorial fit
Writing should be accurate, readable and attentive to context. We may ask for revisions, clarification or supporting material. Please use the Contact page to propose an idea; include a way for us to reply, but do not send sensitive personal details.
A place is made of details
We look closely at the choices people pass every day: a doorway, a sign, a route or a well-used corner. Careful observation beats grand claims.
