Local Style Journal

Editorial policy

Local Style Journal aims to make clear, careful writing about the details of streets and shared places. We distinguish visible features from interpretation and correct the record when we get something wrong.

Accuracy and context

We check names, descriptions and factual claims against suitable sources before publication. A photograph or visible feature may suggest a purpose, but it does not prove one; we identify interpretation as interpretation and avoid presenting uncertain local history as settled fact.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial choices are made for reader interest, not as a promise of favourable coverage. Paid or partner material is labelled clearly so readers can distinguish it from editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee an article or a particular conclusion.

Corrections

Readers can report an error through the Contact page. Please identify the article and explain the point that needs attention. We review correction requests and update material when warranted, making significant changes clear to readers.

Images and illustrations

Images are chosen to support the subject and are not evidence for claims beyond what they show. Some illustrations are AI-generated; where used, they are identified as illustrations and are not presented as documentary photographs.

Our point of view

A place is made of details

We look closely at the choices people pass every day: a doorway, a sign, a route or a well-used corner. Careful observation beats grand claims.
